Dance With Me, Daddy!

One of my friends posed the question, "Why do all children want to stand on your feet?" As I thought about the answer, I remembered back to when I stood on my daddy's feet. He was so much taller than I was. He was so much stronger than I was. I loved the feeling of depending on him to take the steps. You never knew for sure where he would take you. You also had to hold on REALLY tight. Most of the time when I stood on Daddy's feet, it was because I wanted to dance with him. I wanted him to dance, and for me to just hang on. It was freeing. I didn't have to think. All I had to do was hold on.
Now, it's different. There are many times when my Father wants me to dance with Him.  To just hang on to Him while He creates the dance. However, in my maturity, I would rather not dance. I would rather walk. It's safer that way. I won't fall, and I won't have to hold on so tightly. I might have a purpose, a direction that I think I need to go. Yet, somewhere I hear Him saying to me, "Come, stand on My feet. Let's dance." It seems childish. It feels vulnerable.
Today, I decided to do just that. I am going to quit walking, and start standing on my Father's feet. Not sure where He will take me, but this I do know, it will be His dance. I can just hang on to Him, and He will hold me. I won't have to worry or strive. I won't have to have all the moves. I just have to hold on to Him. I will stand on Him, and we will dance!

  1. Ohhhhh this is so good! He is not going to let us fall on our face when He is leading. Especially in this busy season of life where we feel like we have to hurry hurry hurry out of the maze and make left, right, forward or backward decisions under such pressure that we often forget to just hold on tight, stay on His feet, and let Him continually guide us...He's there for the day to day and hour by hour choices as well as the major ones...Thanks Jenni!!
