He Sees Me

The other night I was brushing my teeth. Jathan was lying on the bed, reading a book. I have one of those Sonicare toothbrushes that tells you when to move to a new quadrant of your mouth. It's pretty neat, but sometimes I choose to quit brushing early. Well, I was going to quit brushing early when I thought, "Oh, what if Jathan notices that I am not fully brushing my teeth?" Silly, I know. In that moment, the Lord spoke to me. He said, "Jathan isn't paying attention to you, I AM."
That's when the lesson hit me. So many times I think about whether someone is noticing what I do. Are they seeing me work or not work? Do they notice I have lost or gained weight? Do they see how my kids behave? What the Lord showed me was that most people are too engrossed in what they are doing that they can't possibly notice what I am doing. There is only one that notices me. HIM.
He sees me. He notices when I am doing it right and when I am doing it wrong. He notices if I give it my all, or if I am going at it half-hearted. His eye is on me! Genesis 16:13 says, "She gave this name to the LORD who spoke to her: “You are the God who sees me,” for she said, “I have now seen the One who sees me.” He knows the good, the bad, and the ugly; and still He loves us.

  1. I see you. Beautiful, kind, passionate...I think that's how He sees you, too.

    Love you, my friend.

  2. This truth has saved me many times when I would be tempted to act unfaithfully. Thank you for articulating it simply and beautifully!
